Dr. Lindsey Ramirez earned her graduate degrees in Psychology and Physiology. She now studies how alcohol affects the brain and behavior. Her love for science began as a kid and as she grew, so did her interest, so she pursued a career as a scientist. While abstracts, peer-reviewed papers, and seminars are great ways to share your research with the scientific community, not everyone has access to these so she wanted to explore other ways to communicate science.
She got her opportunity to reach a larger audience when she became a brand ambassador for Project N95. She started posting mask reviews on social media in hopes that it would help other people find their perfect face mask. Now, her channel is focused on mask reviews, tutorials (i.e. mask tape, sip valves, readimask), normalizing masking, and showing that masks don’t prevent you from having fun. Dr. Ramirez understands that not everyone has access to the same information about the benefits of masking and how harmful viruses such as COVID-19 are, so she approaches her messaging without judgement and doesn’t dissuade people from asking questions.
Like clockwork, Dr. Ramirez would get sick every single cold and flu season, but consistently wearing her mask has prevented this cycle and freed up her time and money to use on other things. While some people may view the use of personal protective equipment as burdensome, accomplishing any goal requires dedication and persistence (i.e. strength training, earning a degree, eating healthy).
