Sharon Brown was raised in urban Detroit and attended Cass Technical High School, a magnet school near downtown. She earned a bachelor degree in Fine Arts from Michigan State University. She went on to learn automotive design at the local community college and worked for General Motors and suppliers for several years before returning to school in the healthcare field.
Her most recent employment before becoming disabled due to several chronic conditions was providing treatment as a physical therapist assistant (PTA). She worked with people in their homes—mostly the elderly—to get and keep them ambulatory, or patients with knee or hip replacements. Since late 2019/early 2020, her focus has been keeping herself active and ambulatory with many unforeseen physical challenges. Sharon is especially concerned with asymptomatic infections and spread, so she wears a KF94 mask whenever she is indoors in public spaces.
