Shanahan Europa (she/they) is currently a Graduate Resident Director at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) overseeing the American Indian/Pacific Islander, Global Health, and Pilipinx Living Learning Communities. Previously, she was a Senior Programs Coordinator at the Center for Asian Americans United for Self-Empowerment, managing the nonprofit's undergraduate internship and professional institute. She was also a Survey Coordinator for API Equality-LA, researching the mental health needs of the Queer and Trans Asian Pacific Islander community in Southern California.
Her personal experience living with Long COVID inspires her to integrate COVID safety into her community organizing work. She is currently a Lead Coordinator with Mask Bloc South Oxnard, COVID Safety Officer for Tuesday Night Cafe’s public art series, and frequently volunteers with Mask Bloc LA. Outside of being a community organizer, Shanahan loves the piano, bookbinding, and reading Science Fiction and Fantasy.
Shanahan graduated from UCLA with a B.A. in English and minor in Classical Civilization. She is currently pursuing her Master of Education in Student Affairs at UCLA. Her research interests include college access and retention of disabled/immunocompromised students and Asian American Pacific Islander students.
